Im terrible at this even if I recognize the pic I can rarely remember what game it came from.
Fagan inched in just before Tincup. It's the original Safecracker. Here's the full screenshot in all its glory.
I LOVE Anachronox; one of my all-time favorite games. However, it is NOT an adventure game. It's a hybrid western/Japanese style RPG. A truly underappreciated classic. Tom Hall wants to make a sequel, but the rights are for some reason held by Square Enix and they don't want to play ball.
Respectfully, Anachronox is absolutely NOT an adventure game. It's an RPG. Omikron isn't an adventure game either; it's full of combat and action. I LOVE both games, though.
Unless you're using the very broad definition of adventure game (anything that has a good story and feels like you're on an adventure), but I thought we were much more purist about the definition of the genre here.
Combat is NOT a "minor" part of the game. You fight from one end of the game to another. By this definition, every RPG I've ever played is an adventure game.
Actually, I recommend EVERYONE go find a copy of Anachronox and play it and then we can ALL argue about it together. It's one of the greatest game experiences I EVER had.
Oh, it's it's one of the only times that, after my review of a game was posted, I actually received emails from the game developers!
Go ahead and do right Fagan. Challenge us with a new screenshot.
You got it! One of my favorites.
Ray we should probably take it to another topic i will start one for us to have fun in, i am very willing to take you on on this will be fun, and yes Tom is eager to do the sequel and I am working with and on Square Enix now for chances for us to return. We will cross our fingers and hope for the best.
That makes me think of Armed & Delirious, Markornikov.
think again, mylady
Armed & Delirious - goofy game!
Papo & Yo? I've not played that game yet, but it looks like something that could be found in that game, judging by the screenshots.
This is the uncropped screenshot:
Not a game that I've played (nor one that I'm all that interested in), but this particular screenshot got me a bit curious about what they are actually talking about
(That game probably falls more into the category of visual novel than traditional AG)
I know the game, it's the typical japanese romance dating sim: Cherry Tree High Comedy Club
I tried out several such games more or less out of curiosity and found most of them to be really boring. Also most drip with kitsch and seem for younger teenagers despite what many people might believe those games target audience is supposed to be.
